Achilles Tendon

Located at the back of your leg, The Achilles tendon is a band of tissue. This tendon connects your calf muscles to your heel bone. This is also known as the calcaneal tendon.

In each of your legs, there is an Achilles tendon. The largest and strongest tendons in your body are those in your Achilles tendon. The Achilles Tendon average about 15 cm (6 inches) in length, but it's up to 26 cm (10 inches) long in some people or patient.

The capacity of the Achilles tendons is around four times that of the human body. However, because of the strain placed on this tendon, people frequently suffer from Achilles tendon injuries. In their lives, over 1 in 4 athletes have an Achilles tendon injury.
