What is Abnormal Heart Rhythmus(Arrhythmia)?

A heart arrhythmia(Abnormal heart rhythmus) can be described as a heart beating too fast (tachycardia), or slow(bradycardia), a fluttering sensation in the chest area or the skipping of a heart beat occur when the electrical signals that coordinate the heart's beats don't work properly.

It may feel like a fluttering or racing heart and may be harmless. However, some heart arrhythmias may cause bothersome, sometimes even life-threatening signs and symptoms.Sometimes it's normal for a person to have a fast or slow heart rate. Like Human heart beats at different rates during day time depend upon mental and physical activities you are performing. Heart rate will be slower in night as compared to day time.



Arrhythmia is a condition that is categorized under hridroga of ayurvedic texts. It causes due to vitiation of doshas, When Vata dosha is imbalanced, it causes irregular heart beats. When Pitta dosha is aggravated, it causes increased heartbeat.

Main aim of Ayurveda is to treat the root cause of disease by means of effective and herbs. Herbs used in Ayurveda help to clear the blockages and route out various mental and physical reasons that are responsible for causing Arrhythmia. Herbs used in Ayurveda are potent to fight against free radicals and harmful toxins.

Abnormal heart rhythmus are the most common form of complications in acute myocardial infarction (MI). These occur due to ischaemic condition or irritation to the conduction system, resulting in abnormal heart rhythms. The other cause of Abnormal heart rhythmus include leakage of k+ from ischaemic muscle cells and increased concentration of lactate and free fatty acids in the tissue fluid. Abnormal heart rhythmus may be in the form of fast beats or slow beats,arterial fibrillation, premature systole, and the most serious ventricular fibrillation responsible for many sudden cardiac deaths.

Person suffering with arrhythmias may feel fluttering in chest, tachycardia, bradycardia, chest pain, breathlessness, dizziness, cold sweating and sudden fainting.
