Sexually transmitted disease(S.T.D.)-
An infection transmitted through sexual contact, caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites.It is passed from one person to another through sexual contact. The contact is usually vaginal, oral, or anal sex. But sometimes they can spread through other intimate physical contact. This is because some STDs, like herpes and HPV, are spread by skin-to-skin contact. Ex.- gonorrhoea, genital herpes, human papillomavirus infection, HIV/AIDS, syphilis etc.
Mostly STDs affect both men and women, but in many cases the health problems they cause can be more severe for women. If a pregnant woman has an STD, it can cause serious health problems for the baby.
STD symptoms-
• Sores, rashes, bumps on or around the vagina, penis, testicles, mouth,anus, buttocks or thighs.
• Painful or swollen testicles.
• Itchiness in or around the vagina.
• pain or discomfort during sexual activity or urination
• unusual discharge or bleeding from the penis or vagina.
• unexpected periods or bleeding after sexual activity.
• other symptoms can be quite different and depend on the STD. They can include- nausea, fever, recurring pain, fatigue, changes to vision or hearing.
STD causes-
Various bacteria, viruses or parasites infect body. People share these microorganisms through bodily fluids during sexual activity — usually vaginal, oral or anal sex. STDs like syphilis can be transmitted to an unborn child and Some STDs may be present in infected blood or People who share infected drug needles can pass on STDs.
