A migraine is a headache that can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. Although they are frequently one-sided, they may occur anywhere on the head, neck, and face — or all over. It often goes with nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound.

The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but they're thought to be the result of abnormal brain activity temporarily affecting nerve signals, blood vessels, and chemicals in the brain.

Triggers a migraine-

Triggers include hormonal changes, Certain foods, and drink, stress, and exercise, Lack of sleep, Weather changes, Dehydration, Strong smells, Teeth grinding at night, Menstruation, Alcohol, Schedule changes.

Stages of Migraines-

Not everyone who has migraines goes through all stages.Migraines often begin in childhood, adolescence, or early adulthood and can progress through four stages:- prodrome, aura, attack, and post-drome.

How long does a migraine last?

An entire migraine attack—including prodrome, headache, aura, and postdrome—may last anywhere from a bit more than one day to slightly more than a week at its very longest, though this is not typical. Most typically, a migraine attack will last for one to two days.

Diagnose OF migraine-

There's no specific test to diagnose migraines. For an accurate diagnosis, a GP must identify a pattern of recurring headaches along with the associated symptoms. Migraines can be unpredictable, sometimes occurring without the other symptoms. Obtaining an accurate diagnosis can sometimes take time.

Treatment of Migraines-

Migraines that are severe, frequent, or accompanied by neurological symptoms are best treated preventively, usually with a combination of lifestyle changes, dietary modification, vitamins, and daily prescription medications.

Migraines typically last a few hours to a few days and respond well to specific treatments. However, in some patients, the migraine is particularly severe and long-lasting — and may even become chronic, occurring continuously for weeks, months, or even years.

Preventive and pain-relieving medication can help manage migraine headaches.
